The All-Japan Chinese Youth Federation attended the 2026 World Youth Development Forum in Wuhan, joining youth dialogues, innovation visits, and international exchanges that further expanded networks for China-Japan youth cooperation.

To advance the Global Development Initiative, create a platform for dialogue and cooperation among young people from different countries, and unite youth at home and abroad in support of sustainable development, the 2026 World Youth Development Forum was held in Wuhan from June 14 to 17, 2026. The event was jointly organized by the All-China Youth Federation, the United Nations Development System in China, and the World Youth Development Forum Organizing Committee. Invited to attend the full program, the All-Japan Chinese Youth Federation took an active part in keynote sessions, parallel forums, youth roundtable dialogues, and other activities. Drawing on its overseas Chinese youth platform, the federation strengthened links between young people in China and Japan and used youth engagement to promote international friendship and practical multilateral cooperation.

The federation was represented by Guo Lei, a specially invited overseas member of the 13th All-China Youth Federation and chair of the All-Japan Chinese Youth Federation, and Liu Jingwei, executive chair of the All-Japan Chinese Youth Federation and president of the Japan Overseas Chinese Youth Economic and Cultural Promotion Association. The two representatives held in-depth discussions with young delegates from countries and regions around the world on youth empowerment, cross-border science and technology cooperation, people-to-people and cultural exchange, and youth participation in global governance. They exchanged ideas and practical experience while continuing to expand networks for international youth cooperation.

During the forum, the federation's representatives participated actively in a range of thematic exchanges and spoke face to face with young delegates from many countries. They shared the experience of overseas Chinese youth in Japan in deepening people-to-people exchange, advancing cross-border innovation, and organizing youth networking activities. They also studied effective international approaches to youth innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, demonstrating the commitment of overseas Chinese youth to their heritage and their role in connecting China with the wider world.

The discussions inside the forum were lively, and the off-site industry visits were equally rewarding. Joining the forum's study tour, the representatives visited the front lines of Wuhan's innovation economy, including the Dongfeng Mengshi intelligent manufacturing base, Xiaomi's smart home appliance factory, and the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. They observed the full production chain for new-energy intelligent vehicles, automated smart-appliance production lines, and demonstrations of humanoid robots in multiple settings. The visits offered a close view of the rapid growth of Wuhan's optoelectronics, artificial intelligence, and advanced intelligent manufacturing sectors, as well as the vitality of China's new quality productive forces and the city's strong environment for young scientific and technological talent. The two representatives said Wuhan's well-developed innovation ecosystem and youth-focused support policies were particularly impressive and that there was broad scope for cooperation between young innovators in China and abroad. Overseas Chinese youth in Japan have a natural advantage in linking the markets, industries, and talent of the two countries. In the future, they can help build two-way channels connecting young Japanese innovators and start-up teams with Wuhan's high-tech companies and industrial parks, promote regular technical exchange and joint projects, and help young people in both countries seize opportunities in digital intelligence and green, low-carbon industries.

With a rich and wide-ranging agenda, the forum built bridges around youth development, green and low-carbon growth, digital innovation, and dialogue among civilizations. It provided an important platform for young people worldwide to learn from one another and pursue cooperation. After taking part in the discussions and site visits, both representatives said that experiencing Wuhan's scientific and technological strength and its open, inclusive character had reinforced their conviction that overseas Chinese youth must serve as a bridge between China and the rest of the world.

After the forum, Guo Lei said that the World Youth Development Forum brought together young people from around the globe and created an important platform for dialogue on an equal footing and for building consensus. It allowed young people in China and abroad to exchange ideas face to face and identify opportunities for cooperation. Chinese youth living in Japan form a natural link between China and Japan. Taking the Wuhan visit as a new starting point, the federation will continue to unite overseas Chinese youth in Japan and regularly organize reciprocal visits, innovation seminars, and cultural outreach for young people from both countries. It will share the story of China's modernization with young people in Japan and communicate the values of peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation. It will also draw on Wuhan's innovation resources to create two-way links for youth entrepreneurship and innovation, supporting more exchange projects in digital technology, intelligent manufacturing, culture and the arts, public welfare, and sustainability. Young people overseas have a mission in this new era to connect China with the world and advance mutual understanding among civilizations. The federation will continue linking Chinese youth organizations around the globe, build multilevel and regular mechanisms for cooperation, and encourage overseas Chinese youth to take an active role in international friendship.

Liu Jingwei said that young people are the main force behind innovation and cooperation and that overseas Chinese youth should make full use of their cross-border resources to build practical platforms for youth exchange between Chinese and Japanese industries. The federation will consolidate the results of the forum and the Wuhan industry visits, introduce Wuhan's innovation support policies and industrial opportunities to young entrepreneurs and technology professionals in Japan, and organize innovation delegations for industry study programs in Wuhan. At the same time, it will use its networks to connect China with advanced ideas and international market resources from overseas, explore a new model of joint China-Japan youth innovation, and promote complementary resources and coordinated development.

Both representatives agreed that overseas Chinese youth should carry forward the patriotism, attachment to their heritage, openness, and inclusiveness of earlier generations. Through youthful commitment, they should support the shared development of young people worldwide, continue to advance exchange and mutual learning among civilizations, and contribute the insight and energy of overseas Chinese youth to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
